Cadworks has won the top accolade for Innovation at the British Council for Offices’ (BCO) 2022 National Awards, following its win at the BCO Regional Awards in May.
As one of the most sustainable and innovative office buildings in Scotland and the first net zero carbon building in operation in Glasgow, Cadworks impressed judges with its combination of smart technology and occupier wellbeing along with being all-electric.
BCO judges said: “This incredible office proves that smart technology can not only revolutionise how occupants work, but offer real-time data and choices to enhance their indoor health and wellbeing. Cadworks has shown how it is possible to deliver grade-A BCO-compliant office space that is sustainable and innovative without compromising design and performance.”
This accolade follows a stream of awards for Cadworks including Commercial Property of the Year at The Herald Scotland Awards, Climate Crisis Initiative (Commercial Property) at the Property Awards, and being Highly Commended for Green Building Project of the Year at The Business Green awards.
Cadworks was purchased as a vacant development site in 2016 and works were completed largely during the pandemic, the doors opening in December 2021. The 95,000 sq ft building is net zero in operation and features Scotland’s first cycle-in ramp, has made extensive use of cement-free concrete and Airlite paint that eats up greenhouse gases. Through a partnership with Swifty Scooters, the building offers bespoke scooters to tenants for use free of charge. Each floor was left as shell and core to enable tenants to fit out their space as desired, without wasting any materials.
